Scholarships for high school grads starting at NCC

The Foundation offers two scholarships for incoming high school graduates, the Bigelow Foundation Scholarship and the Royce Merit Scholarship.

Bigelow Foundation Scholarship Information

Students selected by the NCC Foundation Scholarship Committee will have an opportunity to earn an associate degree with a scholarship plus a $250 per semester book allowance. The amount of your award depends on your unmet need up to $3,200. This scholarship can be renewed for a second year, dependent upon satisfactory academic performance in year one.

When to apply

April 1 – June 2, 2023

What you need

To apply you must:

  • Apply to NCC and follow procedures for new admitted students, including taking a placement test
  • Be a current high school senior in a Norwalk public high school
  • Be in good academic standing and not on probationary status
  • Be nominated, in writing, by a teacher, guidance counselor or principal at your current high school
  • Have a current FAFSA on file with the NCC Office of Financial Aid by the application deadline

The NCC Foundation Scholarship Committee reviews all applications and selects potential recipients for an interview. Following the interview process, students are selected to receive an award. Students are notified by email, once their unmet need is determined, if they have been awarded the scholarship.

Royce Merit Scholarship Information

Students selected by the NCC Foundation Scholarship Committee will have an opportunity to complete an associate’s degree with a merit scholarship based on unmet need for up to $4,000, plus a $250 per semester book allowance. Based on satisfactory academic accomplishment, your award can be renewed for your second year at NCC.

When to apply

April 1 – June 2, 2023

What you need

To apply you must:

  • Apply to NCC and follow procedures for new admitted students, including taking a placement test
  • Be a current high school senior in a southwestern Fairfield County public high school
  • Be in good academic standing and not on probationary status
  • Be nominated, in writing, by a teacher, guidance counselor or principal at your current high school
  • Have a current FAFSA on file with the NCC Office of Financial Aid by the application deadline
