Full-Year Scholarships

NCC Full Year Scholarships
2018 Full-Year Scholarship Program is now closed.
Students who applied will be contacted at their NCC email address with the results of the application.

PLEASE READ ALL APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS.

Full-Year Scholarships are applied to NCC tuition and fees for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters. The amount of the individual scholarship varies. If you receive a scholarship, it is a gift that you never pay back.

New this year – students are required to upload a PDF of their Degree Works Audit. Instructions are posted below and on the scholarship website. Please note: you will need to save your Degree Works file to your computer or flash drive (for computers on campus) before uploading into your scholarship application.

Eligibility
You are eligible to apply if you meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum of 12 credits earned at NCC in courses that count toward a degree program (developmental and non-credit courses will not be considered). The 12 credit minimum includes the courses you are currently enrolled in for the Spring 2018 Semester.
  • 2.8 cumulative GPA or, for improving students, a minimum of 3.0 GPA for coursework completed during each of the prior two semesters at NCC.
  • Enrollment in a credit-bearing degree program; student must have declared a major with NCC.
  • Plan to enroll in a minimum of 6 credits for the Fall semester and 6 credits for the Spring semester.
  • FAFSA Requirement:
    * For U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents, a current FAFSA must be on file with the NCC Financial Aid Office by 4/24/18.
    * International Students do not complete FAFSA.
    * Other students (including students approved for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and those who receive in-state tuition through the CT DREAM Act) must submit an Income Verification Form – click here for the form.
  • Must be a student in good standing with the Financial Aid Office and the Business Office.

PLEASE NOTE:

1. The NCC Foundation will award scholarships toward coursework up to a maximum of 68 credits (82 for nursing). Students enrolled in excess of 68 credits may still apply, however, if you receive an award you will be required to submit a Program Coordinator Verification form to confirm progress toward a degree.

2. The scholarship funding available to each student is impacted by the number who apply and qualify. We cannot guarantee that each student who applies will receive a scholarship.

3. To be considered, your scholarship application must be submitted and complete, with essay, and Degree Works upload by April 16, 2018.

4. Students who have received a previous degree at NCC are not eligible.

Selection Criteria
We usually award a large number of Full-Year Scholarships each year. These awards vary in amount and are determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to, academic history, number of credits completed per semester, quality of application essay and financial need.

Essay Requirement
You will be asked to complete a minimum 300-word essay.

If you are a first-time applicant, your essay should cover the following:
• Your academic experience at NCC
• Your career and educational goals
• How an NCC Foundation Scholarship would help you in your studies
• Any extra-curricular or community activities, including any leadership roles
• If applicable, unusual circumstances, including financial need, for consideration.

If you have previously received a Foundation scholarship, your essay should cover the following:
• Your progress at NCC to date
• Your academic goals and how they may have changed over time
• What impact did receiving a Foundation Scholarship last year have on your ability to achieve your academic goals at NCC? Why should the NCC Foundation continue to support you?
• Any extra-curricular or community activities, including any leadership roles
• If applicable, unusual circumstances, including financial need, for consideration

The NCC Writing Center (a part of the Tutoring Center) is available to help you with your essay. It is located in Room W110. Tutors are available by appointment, although walk-ins are welcome if space is available. You must make an appointment in person – they are not able to take appointments over the phone. More information is available at the Writing Center, but you can also call 203-857-3374.

We strongly advise that you complete the essay BEFORE beginning the application. Write it in a text program – you will be able to copy and paste the essay into the application later.

Please note: Applications are only accepted online through our scholarship application system where you will need to use your NCC email account to SIGN UP before completing your application. If you have any difficulties, please contact Rose Pierre at 203-857-7261 or RPierre@norwalk.edu.

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2018 Full-Year Scholarship.
